Good morning,
NCOA has consolidated our disaster assistance resources and I wanted to pass this along because I know many of you are located in areas that have been affected by the recent natural disasters.
- The new BenefitsCheckUp® Disaster Assistance page (https://www.benefitscheckup.org/disaster-assistance/) outlines the myriad benefits that
may be available to those affected. Be aware that the USDA Food & Nutrition Service has recently announced approval of Disaster-SNAP (D-SNAP) benefits in Texas and Florida, which enables households that normally might not qualify for SNAP to get this benefit
in an emergency.
- In addition, this blog post (https://www.ncoa.org/blog/finding-post-disaster-resources-seniors/) lists a variety of our partner
Benefits Enrollment Centers, hotline numbers, and contacts for emergency assistance for seniors & people with disabilities in Texas & Florida (and sometimes nationwide).
- The My Medicare Matters® team will soon be posting a blog about getting Medicare-covered services in emergency/disaster areas as well, so keep a look out at:
https://www.mymedicarematters.org/blog/?SID=59c54b9cd19ec.
Best,
Erin
