Dear BEC & SNAP grantees,
As many of you are aware, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) hosts an annual conference, Age+Action, that includes programming specifically related to MIPPA and benefits access.
In 2021, this conference will be virtual, running June 7-10.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring together some of the most knowledgeable people on benefits access from across the country and that would be you, our grantees. While we are committed to offering
sessions that impacts the benefits access work performed every day, we rely on your generosity and willingness to share what you have learned and continue to learn in your community.
This is our offer to help fulfill that New Year’s resolution or shake off the pandemic doldrums by submitting a proposal for the Age +Action conference. Develop a session around something new you have tried
such as pursuing a connection with an untraditional partner, creating your first You Tube video, lessons learned on virtual platforms, PSAs, teletown halls or how has the pandemic impacted your messaging.
NCOA has taken several steps to reduce the anxiety around conference presentations. We will continue to offer the standard 60-minute session which typically involves 2-3 presenters. Know that for the first
time many of these sessions will be pre-recorded with the recording played during the conference. Secondly, we are excited to offer a shorter conference session to be known as a poster session. The poster session is designed to be 5-10 minutes in length (likely
pre-recorded) followed by a live opportunity to respond to questions.
While we welcome session proposals of all types, know that we are specifically interested in sharing your experiences and practices around:
Of course, other topics are welcome as well!
The deadline for submission is Friday, January 22, 2021. Visit www.ageaction.org for more information.
Additionally, know that NCOA staff is here to help. If you want to discuss a session idea or need a session partner – please reach out to me or anyone else on the Center staff. I look forward to hearing
from you.
Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays!
