FW: Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program Information in Remittance Advice and Explanation of Benefits Leslie Fried 04 Apr 2018 11:46 EDT
Good Morning,
Please see attached a CMS memo to Medicare Advantage and Cost plans regarding notifying providers about federal prohibition to balance bill QMB enrollees.
CMS recommends plans take certain steps to ensure that providers are on notice of enrollees QMB status.

Subject: Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program Information in Remittance Advice and Explanation of Benefits

Please see the attached memorandum from Sharon Donovan, Director, Program Alignment Group, Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office. The memorandum is entitled "Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program Information in Remittance Advice and Explanation of Benefits." This memorandum recommends how plans can incorporate QMB information in the plan's Remittance Advice (RA, also known as Explanation of Payment), and encourages plans to incorporate QMB information in the Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to beneficiaries.
