Hi folks,
The HHS office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation has released the 2018 poverty guidelines at:
https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines. The guidelines set the federal poverty level at $12,140 for a single individual and $16,460 for a couple in the 48 contiguous states & DC (see page for higher amounts
in AK/HI). There is also a link on the right side of this page to a downloadable chart for different percentages of poverty.
We will be updating our Extra Help and Medicare Savings Programs eligibility charts in the next few weeks to reflect these new figures. As a reminder, CMS released the 2018 resource limits for these benefits back in November, which we posted
at: https://www.ncoa.org/resources/2018-lis-resource-limits/. Note that for MSPs, it often takes a month or two for state systems to be updated with the new eligibility criteria.
Stay tuned for updated resources!
