Some of you may come across clients who were enrolled in Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) through the Health Insurance Marketplace, and delayed enrolling in Part B when they became Medicare-eligible, because they did not know they needed to
take Medicare or mistakenly thought they would be able to keep their Marketplace subsidy and pay less for coverage.
Time-limited (until late September 2017) equitable relief is available to Medicare beneficiaries who delayed enrolling in Part B in order to keep their QHPs. This relief enables these individuals to get immediate
or retroactive Part B without a late enrollment penalty.
The Medicare Rights Center has developed a fact sheet and case study for us that outlines who qualifies for this relief, and how you can help clients in this situation.
