NCOA has just updated our data visualization tool that uses information from the Social Security Administration (SSA) to indicate where SSA sent letters to people potentially eligible for,
but not enrolled in, the key Medicare subsidies:
https://www.ncoa.org/article/lis-msp-potential-eligibles
As a reminder, each May and June, SSA mails letters to people enrolled in Medicare who, based on their Social Security benefit, appear likely eligible for but not receiving the Part D Low-Income
Subsidy (LIS), also known as Extra Help, and the Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs). SSA does not have IRS data to provide a complete picture of these individuals’ full income and assets, so the letters are using their best guess. By seeing which zip codes received
the most letters, we hope this visualization will help you determine where you might want to target outreach efforts.
