Person-Centered Thinking Webinars: Part 1 & 2

Thursday, April 27, and Thursday, June 1, 2023

2:00 pm - 3:30 pm ET

Description:

Person-centered thinking focuses language, values, and actions around respect for the person and their loved ones while emphasizing quality of life, well-being, and informed choice. These two webinars are facilitated in collaboration with the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling (OHIC) and the National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems (NCAPPS).

An Introduction to Person-Centered Thinking will strengthen awareness of person-centered thinking among counselors and team members in SHIP, SMP, and MIPPA programs. Participants will learn the key values of person-centeredness; how to differentiate between pity, sympathy, empathy, and compassion; and how to identify stages of decision-making readiness. Through interactive activities such as polls, case scenarios, and chat prompts, counselors will explore how to embed person-centered thinking into their everyday work and interactions.

Furthering Person-Centered Thinking will be a follow-up with participants from the first training on additional questions. The second webinar will expand on concepts presented in the first webinar to strengthen awareness of person-centered thinking among counselors and team members in SHIP, SMP, and MIPPA programs.
