Last month, CMS released the official memo outlining the resource limits for the Part D Low-Income Subsidy (LIS/Extra Help)—which also serve as the limits for the Medicare Savings Programs in states that have chosen not to expand/eliminate the asset test:

The 2023 resource limits are $9,090 ($13,630 if married) for full LIS and $15,160 ($30,240 if married) for partial LIS. If beneficiaries notified the Social Security Administration (SSA) that they expect to use some of their resources for burial expenses, pursuant to 20 CFR 416.1231, the 2023 resource limits are $10,590 ($16,630 if married) for the full low-income subsidy and $16,660 ($33,240 if married) for the partial low-income subsidies. (Note that in 2024, as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act, the partial subsidy is eliminated and all beneficiaries with incomes up to 150% FPL will receive the full subsidy.)

We will be updating our LIS & MSP eligibility charts in January following release of the Federal poverty guidelines.
