Sharing information from ACL

 

 

 

Good afternoon,

 

You may be hearing from beneficiaries about telephone surveys they are receiving. There are currently two surveys being conducted of beneficiaries – one from ACL and the other from CMS.

 

1. SHIP/SMP Customer Satisfaction Survey - CG Strategy (ACL's contractor) is currently conducting surveys of beneficiaries who received one-on-one assistance from a local SHIP provider. The SHIP survey is national, meaning that each year we will collect responses from a sample of all 54 States and Territories. This reduces the burden on individual States and Territories and will provide the entire program with a yearly analysis of results. Attached please find a handout on the survey and the script they are using when calling. You can find more resources in the SHIP or SMP libraries.

 

2. Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) - CMS is contacting beneficiaries directly by phone to conduct the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS). MCBS is a continuous, multipurpose survey of a nationally representative sample of the Medicare population, conducted by the Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics (OEDA) of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through a contract with NORC at the University of Chicago. 

 

Due to the pandemic, they began reaching out by telephone, with a letter followed by a phone call, to schedule an interview. Normally the beneficiary will get an advance letter and then an interviewer will come to the door to schedule an interview.  As they return to more normal operations, the interview may be conducted by telephone or in person.
