Sharing a quick reminder of the coming mailings season in preparation for Medicare Open Enrollment (OEP) aka the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Please review and share the following resources with your teams:

 

  1. The 2022-23 CMS, SSA, and Plan Mailings Chart (attached too) provides a brief description of each mailing a beneficiary may receive from CMS, SSA, or their Medicare Part D Plan (PDP) or Medicare Advantage (MA) Plan. When applicable the color of the paper the mailing is printed on as well as hyperlinks to sample mailings.

 

  1. Two attached Health Plan Management System (HPMS) reminding plans of annual reassignment (enrollment) for some Extra Help/LIS Medicare beneficiaries. One memo directed to PDPs and one directed to MA Organizations. The memo outlines the circumstances in which a beneficiary with Extra Help will be reassigned.

 

  1. Relatedly, it’s the season for redoing many Extra Help things and this NCOA Extra Help Redeeming, Redetermination, Reassignments (ncoa.org) resource helps sort the lingo and provides case examples.
