Please find the attached vaccine updates from CMS on 1/14/21 and 1/25/21 and details below.

 

• The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to recommend people with Medicare contact to their Local Health Department for more information on vaccine availability. 
• The CMS weekly partner listservs updates are attached (one shared earlier today by Maggie Flowers).
• Medicare.gov updated recently with new content on the Medicare & Coronavirus and Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine pages. Of note:
• Added content on distribution, directing beneficiaries to contact their local health departments consistent with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance.
• Added content advising beneficiaries to bring their Medicare cards when receiving the vaccine, but to also be alert for scammers who may attempt to steal their Medicare Numbers.
• Cms.gov updated recently to include Medicare COVID-19 Vaccine Shot Payment https://www.cms.gov/medicare/covid-19/medicare-covid-19-vaccine-shot-payment

Medicare payment rates for COVID-19 vaccine administration will be $28.39 to administer single-dose vaccines. For a COVID-19 vaccine requiring a series of 2 or more doses, the initial dose(s) administration payment rate will be $16.94, and $28.39 for the administration of the final dose in the series. These rates recognize the costs involved in administering the vaccine, including the additional resources involved with required public health reporting, conducting important outreach and patient education, and spending additional time with patients answering any questions they may have about the vaccine. These rates will also be geographically adjusted.

Note: these rates don’t apply for entities that are reimbursed for vaccines at reasonable cost. Get the most up to date list of billing codes, payment allowances and effective dates.

There’s no cost for your patients (targeted to providers). People with Medicare pay nothing for COVID-19 shots: No copayment/coinsurance, No deductible
