While the CARES Act provided economic impact payments (EIPs) to millions of Americans, several million people still have not received their EIP. These are mostly individuals who did not file tax returns in 2018/19.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has just published a guide for community organizations and frontline staff on how to discuss the EIP with your clients, determine if they need to take action, and
help them use the non-filers tool. The fastest way they can still get their EIP this year is by filing before
October 15, 2020.
