Earlier this month we received the data files from Social Security regarding where they are sending letters to Medicare beneficiaries who are potentially eligible for, but not enrolled in, Extra Help and the Medicare Savings Programs.
We have updated our visualization tool with this info at:
https://www.ncoa.org/economic-security/benefits/visualizations/lis-msp-potential-eligibles/
Data is drilled down to the zip code level. This can help you understand where there may be pockets of beneficiaries in your community that are un/under-enrolled in these programs, and where you may wish to target outreach efforts.
Note: While these data help identify those likely eligible for these two programs based on their Social Security benefit, remember that Medicare beneficiaries may have additional sources of income or assets above the amounts allowed for the programs, and not all letter recipients may be eligible to enroll. (SSA does not have access to IRS data for a full picture of beneficiaries’ incomes.)
