Also, I’ve had a few people ask about the economic payments being sent to folks as a result of the CARES Act (which I noted in a separate email this morning now do not require people with Social Security to submit a tax return to receive).
These do not count as income and will not affect benefits eligibility. They will instead be considered a fully refundable tax credit. Here’s the official mention from the Congressional Ways & Means Committee asserting this fact:
