Hello All,

Hope you are all doing okay during these stressful times.  Please see below message from SSA.

I have been on a call with SSA today. All procedures are changing daily as they try to meet the needs of their clients and constituents.

A couple of important items –

  1. All SSA benefits will continue to be paid as usual. There are some scams and fraudulent messages suggesting they are being delayed with is not true.
  2. All SSA hearings are being held by telephone only and folks should receive notice with these changes.
  3. As for national telephone number, it is currently transitioning from the large call centers to remote working to ensure of social distancing. SSA recommends calling the field offices (using the field office locator) if you need to call SSA at this time.
  4. SSA has been in touch with CMS to figure out how to handle Medicare IEPs, GEP and SEPs, especially if folks need to submit documents. SSA is trying to figure it out now so stay tuned and look for additional guidance in the near future.

Thank goodness its Friday. Be safe.

Leslie

Dear Colleague,

All local Social Security offices are closed to the public for in-person service as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  This decision protects the populations we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  However, we are still able to provide critical services.

Please visit our Social Security & Coronavirus webpage to get updates on the latest, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online. I encourage you to share this information with your members, colleagues, affiliates, and other interested parties.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Buckner
