NCOA is committed to the health and safety of community-based organizations that serve older adults. We are taking proactive steps to understand the challenges they are facing and provide them with trusted resources. At the federal level, we are advocating that maximum resources be allocated to address the needs of older adults, including education, outreach, and support for senior centers.

NCOA urges all community-based organizations that serve older adults, such as senior centers, to consult with and follow the advice of their local public health officials in determining whether to remain open and what services to offer. As of March 15, the CDC is recommending that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.

As such, we urge you to delay the scheduled launch of any community-based Boost Your Budget Week (April 13-17) activities until this period ends; stay tuned for more details from us about alternative timing for campaign events.

At this time, NCOA is still planning to host Age+Action, June 8-10, in Dallas. The health and safety of our partners, attendees, and guests are paramount to us. We are following the situation closely and following guidance from health and government officials, and if things change, we will notify all participants.

Please communicate openly with your NCOA/Center for Benefits Project Officer about any impacts you are experiencing.  We are here to support you in whatever way we can!
