In this era of privacy concerns and identity theft, how is a beneficiary to know which types of contacts from Medicare plans and representatives are legitimate? CMS health and drug plans, as well as their representatives, make contact with Medicare beneficiaries for legitimate marketing purposes and to provide customer service. CMS and CMS contractors also contact beneficiaries as part of their Current Beneficiary Survey and other surveys and as part of complaint resolutions.

The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Resource Center is hosting a webinar on Thursday, April 4, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time to outline the various types of legitimate contacts from CMS and Part C and Part D plans and when they may occur. CMS and the Center will also briefly review examples of the types of referrals that are made to the CMS liaison, the referrals processes, and related resources.

Speakers:

•            Maureen Kerrigan, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

•            Heather Flory, SMP Resource Center
