In just a few weeks, the Census Bureau will begin directing people to go online to complete their 2020 Census.

Households will receive their invitation to respond to the 2020 Census between March 12 and 20. The invitation will include instructions for responding online, as well as a toll-free phone number people can call if they need help or would like to respond by phone. The Census Bureau would love your help letting everyone know that they can expect their mailer in mid-March and can begin responding online March 12.

Here are some talking points and sample messages that can be dropped into your regular communications or repurposed into social media posts.

The 2020 Census will be live soon! Beginning March 12, you can respond online at 2020census.gov. You can also respond by phone in one of 13 languages and find assistance in many more.
Between March 12-20, households will receive invitations in the mail to complete the 2020 Census. You should respond as soon as you receive your invitation.
Some households will receive a paper questionnaire. If you receive one, you can fill it out and return your 2020 Census by mail.
Be sure to count everyone living in your home as of April 1 in the 2020 Census. That includes all children and babies, roommates, and family and friends who are living with you.

Since many older adults may be reluctant to, or unable to, go online to be counted, it’s important we get the word out, help them when possible, and direct them to other ways to be counted.
