Hello BEC friends,

As most of you know, NCOA’s annual conference, Age+Action, is taking place June 8-10, 2020 in Dallas, TX. This conference brings together representatives from our BECs, MIPPA grantees, as well as professionals across the aging network, to share strategies to improve the lives of older adults in their communities.

When the Center for Benefits wrote our current proposal to ACL to support an annual conference, we designated even-numbered years as “regional” conferences, bringing in grantees from specific geographic areas that share commonalities, rather than the entire network (who should plan to attend in odd-numbered years in DC).

Because we weren’t sure when we negotiated your grants which “region” we would be hosting this year, many of you included a line item of $1,500 in your BEC grant budget to support attendance at this event. Please note: If your BEC’s attendance is mandatory, the BEC lead should have received an email from Randy Feliciano indicating you must register and send at least one representative to the conference.

If you did not receive an email indicating your attendance is mandatory, and you budgeted grant funds to come to Dallas, please contact your Center lead (Randy, Erin, Lyndsea) if you would still like to use this line item to send someone to the conference. We are happy to have you attend, even if you are not formally in the surrounding region—but you will need specific instructions from us about how to register.

And of course, if you are coming, we welcome submission of conference proposals (by January 10th) at www.ageaction.org.
